diamond engagement ring
A ring for a proposal is chosen once, and most often without the person it is meant for. So what matters most is the stone, and the setting does not argue with it: a diamond and a slim, neat band, with no jeweller's liberties at your expense.
38 rings with white diamonds in stock in Moscow now, priced $6,300 to $78,400; there are also rings with yellow and pink diamonds.

how many carats
The Sobolev aesthetic starts at 1 carat. But a carat is a unit of weight, while the finger shows the stone's face. Our round 1 carat diamond is 6.4 mm across, a 2 carat one about 8.1 mm, a 3 carat one about 9.3 mm. Stones of the same weight can face up noticeably differently — we select those that look larger than average for their carat weight.
the shape of the stone
A round stone looks larger than fancy shapes of the same weight. In a ring a radiant looks larger than a cushion: the corners hold the shape, while cushions are usually cut deeper. With pears and ovals, length sets the visual mass on the finger — it matters more than width.
if you don't know the size
The ring can be resized in our own workshop once the size is known. Or you can choose the stone first — and have the ring made in the right size from the start.
choosing by eye
A report does not show how a stone plays: windows, colour dead spots and dispersion are visible only in person. At the showroom we lay several stones of the same weight side by side to compare. You decide only after seeing the stone, with no deposit.

videoquestions
How many carats should an engagement ring have?
There is no rule. The Sobolev aesthetic starts at 1 carat; our clients most often choose stones of 2 to 4 carats. But what matters more than carats is how the stone looks on the hand.
What if I don't know the ring size?
The ring can be resized in our own workshop once the size is known — or you can choose the stone first and have the ring made in the right size from the start.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No. You decide to buy only after seeing the stone in person. This applies to the large stones we bring in to order as well.
How do I check a GIA report?
The report number is on each piece's page and links to the GIA database (gia.edu). In the showroom we will show you the report itself and, together with you, look at the number inscribed on the stone's girdle under an electronic microscope.
The price is in US dollars — how do I pay?
Within Russia, payment is made only in roubles, converted at Sberbank's dollar selling rate on the day of purchase.
