Titanic — a Sobolev cut
Titanic is our own cut: a brilliant in its pattern, but recalculated for topaz. We didn't invent the name — our clients started calling these rings that, and it stuck.
why not simply a brilliant
Light inside a stone reflects off the lower facets only if it strikes them at a steep enough angle. For diamond that limit is about 24°, for topaz about 38°: topaz has a lower refractive index. Cut a topaz to diamond proportions and part of the light escapes through the bottom, leaving a pale “window” in the centre. In Titanic the facet angles are recalculated for topaz: the pavilion is deeper, so the stone itself sits tall.
a statement ring
What people value in Titanic is not the stone but what has been done with it: a cut no one else has, and a ring you can see from across the table. It is a Sobolev piece, not a topaz in a setting: there is nothing like it to compare it with.
see it in person
A cut is best seen in motion: every ring in the catalogue has a video. In person — at the showroom, to compare the play with your own eyes.
